Life is a little hectic at the moment so I went with a short story after working my way through a pretty hefty series.

A book review on Gillian Flynn's The Grownup

Gillian Flynn's 'The Grownup' filled that spot with a perfectly twisted take on ghost story tropes with that dark humour we love and twists that we continue to question long after we finish the story.

I do not often buy new books, I love finding gems second hand but the opening line of 'The Grownup' meant I popped it straight in my basket "I didn't stop giving hand jobs because I wasn't good at it. I stopped giving hand jobs because I was the best at it." Now don't let this line even come close to what you think this story is about, don't guess yourself, just purchase the book and lose yourself in one sitting.

I felt like the settings, the house, pointed the story in a different direction in that of the characters and that in turn made me question so many turns in the plot that I wasn't entirely sure who to believe. Flynn creates such damaged people that seem so real I have yet to questioned their behaviour, don't really want to think about what this says about me but I recommend you pick this up.
